What About Candidates with Physical Disabilities?
The CSS exam has provisions for candidates with disabilities:
- A certain percentage of seats may be reserved for disabled persons

- Disabled candidates must submit a disability certificate from the competent authority
- Certain occupational groups (Police, Railways) may not be suitable for candidates with specific disabilities
How Should You Prepare for the Medical Examination?
Before the Medical Exam
- Get a pre-check done - Visit your doctor for a general health assessment
- Get your vision tested - If you need glasses, know your prescription
- Check your height and weight - Especially if applying for Police Service
- Get chest measurements - If applicable for your target group
- Gather medical records - Previous surgeries, conditions, medications
On the Day of Medical Examination
- Bring your admission certificate and CNIC
- Wear comfortable clothing that can be easily removed for examination
- Bring any prescription glasses or contact lenses you use
- Carry your medical history records if you have any ongoing conditions
- Be honest about your medical history - hiding conditions can lead to later disqualification
What Happens If You Are Declared Medically Unfit?
If the medical board declares you unfit:
- You are notified of the specific reason(s) for unfitness
- You may request a review by an appellate medical board within the prescribed time
- If the review upholds the original decision, you are removed from the selection process
- Medical unfitness for one group does not necessarily disqualify you for other groups (except in the case of general unfitness)
Quick Summary
- Medical examination is conducted after passing the written exam
- Police Service has the strictest standards (minimum height 5'7" for males, 5'2" for females)
- Railways requires minimum 5'4" height for males and 6/6 vision in both eyes
